About Lamar, PA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Lamar is a small community located in southern Clinton County in Porter Township, Pennsylvania. As of 2010, there were approximately 560 people living here. This community is found along Pennsylvania Route 64 and is bordered by Nittany. Following PA-64 northeast will take you to Lock Haven, and following the same highway southwest and on through Nittany will lead to State College.

Lamar isn’t home to any notable attractions, but there are a few businesses located in this small community. The Lamar National Fish Hatchery is located here, as is Brothers Pizza of Lamar. Neighboring Mill Hall is home to Belles Springs Golf Course and Baney’s Golf and Sport Shop. Additionally, Lock Haven is home to some interesting things to see and do, including Station Gallery, the Millbrook Playhouse Theater, and the Clinton County Raceway.

As part of a humid continental climate zone, Lamar and the surrounding areas will experience four distinct seasons throughout the year:

  • Spring. The spring months in Lamar tend to be warm and rainy, and severe storms with tornadoes are common during this time of year.
  • Summer. Summers are humid and typically very warm, and thermostat readings can exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit about 15 days of the year.
  • Fall. The autumn months tend to be warm with less humidity, and this will give residents a reprieve from extreme summer and winter conditions.
  • Winter. Winters in the city are cold and dry, experiencing a mix of snow, sleet, and rain. Heavy snowfall with icing are also common, especially since the average mean temperature during January – the coldest month – only reach about 27 degrees.

The fact that weather conditions are so varied makes it important that residents invest in both home heating and cooling system. When these units are serviced regularly to ensure optimal efficiency, residents will be rewarded with comfortable home interiors and lower utility costs.
