This borough is part of the State College, PA Metro Statistical Area. In addition to being small by population, Howard is also small in geographical size, as it only consists of about 0.3 square miles of total area. There are a few notable attractions located in and around Howard. Curtin Village at Eagle Ironworks is one of the best preserved and most unique historical sites in Pennsylvania and is located in Howard. Howard is located in a humid continental climate zone. This means that four distinct seasons will be experienced during the year, including a hot and humid summer. High temperatures in July – the hottest month of the year -  tend to reach the 80s, but there are many days each season in which thermostat readings will reach the 90s. Without an energy efficient air conditioning system in place, residents could be at risk of suffering from heat-related illnesses. These systems are also important for keeping indoor air free of allergens and other foreign particles.

A heat pump or furnace will be required to get through the winter months in Howard. Temperatures generally fall to the freezing point, and conditions tend to be snowy. Without an efficient home heating system, residents could be left with outrageous home heating bills during the winter season.
